I presented this question to a few people and their responses were really interesting! It seems that to them, Pacman is either a cute cartoon character or a dumb maze you have to play with. Some even found him "creepy" and "scary." Regardless of what they think, it's been hard for me not to see Pacman as more than just a puzzle or game. Now I see him as an art piece that's been around for over 30 years. In fact, he was so influential in arcade culture that he was included in several games after his release- including Galaxian and Galaga!

Pacman is a 1984 arcade game. The player controls Pac-person, who must eat all the Pac-dots in order to advance to the next level. Along the way, the player is chased by four ghosts named Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde, who turn blue when they are close to catching Pac-person. The game was originally created by Japanese video game designer Toru Iwatani for Midway Manufacturing Company in 1980. It was popular with children because of its simplicity and its unique gameplay that could be easily learned for quick play. It has been ported into many different home video game consoles regardless of graphics capability. Pacman is one of the most recognizable video games in history.
